AI @ Cam
Helping the University of Cambridge with its AI courses
The brief: Another project with the team at the University of Cambridge, this time for ai@cam and the university’s work in artificial intelligence. The site needed to showcase Cambridge’s AI research and courses, and be a useful resource for students and researchers in a fast-moving field.
The challenge
University sites carry a lot of content, and they need to stay fast and secure without a heavy server setup to maintain. The team also needed to update the site themselves, without a developer for every change.
The approach
I used the Jamstack, as on the Machine Learning group’s site: the site is pre-built into fast, static pages, with a git-based CMS on top so the team can publish and edit content through a simple interface.
The stack
- Jekyll, a static site generator
- Netlify CMS (now Decap CMS) for content editing
- Custom design and development
The result is a high-performing site that’s easy for the university to maintain and update.
